A Short Guide to Living Like You’re Already That Version of You

Because future you isn’t waiting — they’re watching to see if you’ll catch up.

There’s this cultural obsession with the “before and after.” As if becoming who you want to be is some massive shift — a wardrobe change, a career flip, a mysterious, glowing makeover where suddenly you wake up and your life is aesthetic and self-assured or your hair is instantly glossy your ripped with muscles. Looks so easy, so obtainable! And at the same time, completely out of reach.

But in my experience? That version of you you keep holding off for doesn’t arrive all at once. They show up in fragments. A decision here. A scent discovery there. A sharper yes. A more loving no. An outfit that aligns your nervous system in a way that caffeine never could. An addition to your daily ritual that allows you to feel more like you.

And the real trick — the whole game, honestly — is learning how to live like you're already them. Like you’re already living that life you’re dreaming of or desiring.

  • Not in a “fake it 'til you make it” way.
    In a “design your life like it’s already working” way. And seeing what you DO have in place already that feel like you’re living it. It’s important to see what we do have vs. always looking at what we don’t. There have been countless amounts of time when I wished I had the thing (enter any sort of clothing, friend, invitation, network, tool, table scape, relationship, etc.) and realized I indeed did have it already, but maybe in a slightly different form or state of evolution. When you only look at your lack, it’s hard to see how far you’ve come and feel hope or energy towards what you’re working towards.
    I only share this because I have fully used this way of being for a very long time, and it has worked for me, time and time again.


Why This Works (Yes, Even Scientifically)

The version of yourself you envision — confident, clear, tapped in — isn’t a delusion. It’s memory in reverse. The brain can’t tell too well between what’s vividly imagined and what’s experienced. That means the more you live in alignment with a future version of yourself, the faster you collapse the space between now and then.

  • This isn’t just self-help fluff or woo woo stuff. It’s neuroscience.
    It’s called neuroplasticity — the idea that your brain physically reshapes around the behaviors and beliefs you reinforce. Which means identity isn’t fixed — it’s rehearsed.

Want to live like the version of yourself who feels clear, collected, creative?
Start acting like them now. Your brain will catch up. Your environment will follow. Your decisions will start selecting for that reality. You’ll start noticing little signs or puzzle pieces that you are able to pick up on. Therefore paving a new path for yourself in a direction that is more aligned.

Manifestation, but make it structural.
